Q: Do you inspect electric vehicles (EVs) and their batteries?
A: At this stage, we do not offer inspections for fully Electric Vehicles (EVs) due to the specific safety risks associated with high-voltage battery systems. Similarly, while we can inspect the mechanical components of a Hybrid, we do not perform specialized Hybrid battery health checks, as these require a qualified high-voltage electrician and complex diagnostic equipment to be completed safely and accurately.
Q: Where do the Heroes travel, and is there a call-out fee?
A: Our "Hero Budget" price includes travel within a 20 KM radius of the CBD. This allows us to cover the heart of the city and most surrounding suburbs without extra costs. If the car is further out—like deep into the Barossa or way down south—just let us know, and we can provide a quick quote for the additional travel.
Q: Do you use a hoist to look under the car?
A: To keep our service mobile and affordable, we do not use a workshop hoist. Instead, our Heroes perform as much possible underbody inspection from the ground. We use high-powered lighting and specialized tools to check for leaks, rust, and structural damage. It’s a highly effective way to spot "red flags" without the need for a mechanical workshop.
Q: What do I need to provide for the inspection to take place?
A: All we need is a clean, dry, and flat surface (like a driveway or a quiet street) and enough space for the Hero to move freely around the vehicle. This ensures we can safely perform our exterior checks, underbody review, and the all-important road test. As long as there’s room to work and the car is accessible, we’re good to go!
Q: What if the seller gets "cold feet" and refuses the inspection or test drive?
A: Consider that the biggest Red Flag of all! If a Hero arrives and the seller suddenly declines a test drive or blocks certain checks, our full service fee still applies. Why? Because we’ve dedicated a professional to your job and traveled to the site. In these cases, we don't just walk away—we pivot. We will perform every possible check allowed (exterior, interior, and static engine review) and provide you with a report documenting exactly what the seller refused. Often, seeing a seller back down when an expert arrives is the most valuable piece of "Hero" advice we can give you to save you from a potentially disastrous purchase.
Q: What is your cancellation and refund policy if I change my mind?
A: We know plans can change, but because our Heroes schedule their routes in advance, we have a clear policy in place: 24+ Hours Notice: If you change your mind and let us know at least 24 hours before the scheduled inspection, you will receive a full refund. Less than 24 Hours / Same Day: If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice or on the day of the appointment, a 50% cancellation fee applies to cover the inspector's lost time and scheduling. Seller Refusal: If our Hero arrives and the seller declines the inspection or test drive, the full fee applies. In this "Red Flag" scenario, we will still provide a report on everything we were able to observe to help you make your final decision.
